I researched for days trying to find Percale sheets. Nearly all only had a thread count of about 300 or even less. I like a higher thread count in sheets. (Or have we been trained to think so? More further on) I was pleasantly surprised to find these sheets with a TC of 600! After all the hours and hours, days and days of research literally) I had spent i KNOW these are the ONLY Percale sheets out there with that high of thread count.I had assumed, like many of us, that the higher the TC the better the sheets. But over the last 10 years I began to see sheets with ridiculously high TC, even with Egyptian cottons, that were inexpensive. What was going on? Once purchased I found the sheets not to be really that high of TC so something was off. Companies must be deceiving us. Then I did lots more research and learned that the highest TC doesn't always mean the best sheets. But that is what we all had been taught. Right? While I tended to like a heavy weight sheet I was also finding that even in the winter I was leaving the ceiling fan on because I was sweating at night. These sheets just were not breathing. Something was off with either rhe TC, the weave or the cotton type I assumed. More and more research taught me that the unique weave of Percale sheets allowed the cotton sheets to be more breathable and thus a more restful night sleep if one slept on the warmer side. Not true Percale? Wrong. If you don't believe they are true Percale then get a 10X magnifying glass and look at the weave pattern for yourself. It is the weave that makes Percale what it is, not the fiber or any other attribute. Percale has a unique weave which makes it cooler than other weave patterns. "Percale sheets use a one-over-one-under weave that gives them their classic crisp, smooth feel."I remembered my Grandmother always bought Percale sheets. I remembered those sheets being cool and soft and lovely. The kind of sheets that yes, horror of horrors, were hung out on a clothes line. That even froze in the winter!! A few of you are old enough to be smiling now. Then companies started adding in synthetic fibers and sheets became "wrinkle free" but lost that wonderful ability to breath, their coolness and their crispness. I loved that crispness even if I did have to hang them up on a clothes lines. Frankly, who cares about wrinkles. I even remember people ironing their sheets. Sorry but I have better things to do. I hated sheets for years until the re-advent of 100% cotton sheets. Then everything became this strange competition on who could make the highest TC sheets. It became some badge of honor on who had the highest TC on their beds. Everyone, including me, thought that the higher the TC the better the quality the sheets would be. Not necessarily I learned. So I took a chance on these sheets hoping they might be something like the sheets my Grandmother use to own. OMG. They were so light weight compared to the sheets I had been buying. Silk V. Canvas. Those others felt like light-weight blankets in comparison. These were airy like my Grandmother's. They breathed really well and I didn't sweat at night. They feel silky like sheets that add synthetic fibers BUT without the petro chemicals. They were such a different experience compared to the 1000TC sheets I have been using for years. I plan to buy a second set. They take a long time to arrive being shipped from India but well worth it. The company answers questions rather fast and they are pleasant to deal with. The other interesting thing about this company is the varied and unique sizing. They had a slightly larger than Queen sized queen which is what I bought. I was afraid that being a true cotton sheet that they might shrink so I chose the Olympic Queen. While I saw not substantial shrinking having a little extra room doesn't hurt. They don't do the same type of sizing for the King so will hope when I now order the King sizes ones there won't be any shrinkage either. The lavender color was true to my computer's monitor and is really gorgeous. Such a nice change from the usual blues, etc. Gotten lots of compliments on the lavender color and will also be buying in the King too.So far I have purchased two sets for myself and two for my house cleaner who fell in love with them too. Probably going to buy a third set for myself and thinking they would be great Xmas gifts too. I don't see how you can go wrong with these sheets, especially for the modest price. Just a long wait time.
